We are receiving a high number of calls from patients concerned about providing proof to their employer during this difficult time of Covid-19.

If evidence is required to cover self-isolation or household isolation beyond the first 7 days of absence then employees can get an isolation note from NHS 111 online.

This replaces the usual need to provide a ‘fit note’ after 7 days of sickness absence. Jobcentre Plus will accept these isolation notes.

By law, medical evidence is not required for the first 7 days of sickness. After 7 days, employers may use their discretion if their employee is unwell or they live with someone who is, in accordance with the public health advice issued by the government.
